1. How do I order tickets?

The thrill of NASCAR can only be described by people who have witnessed a race. At 180 miles per hour, with only inches separating the bumpers of more than 40 stock cars, any Sprint Cup Series race is an impressive event to behold. Add over 100,000 spectators and the race scene becomes even more intense. To attend a race or to procure tickets for a customer, please utilize our Event Ticket Program. Please choose Tickets from the menu above. You will find information regarding the race schedule, ticket prices and availability as well as a ticket request form.

4. How does the NASCAR Sprint Cup Point system work?

Points are awarded on a decreasing scale starting from first place through 43rd place. The winning driver can earn as much as 195 points in a single race, depending upon how many laps he leads.

5 bonus points are awarded to the driver who leads the most laps in a race, and any driver who leads at least one lap will receive 5 points. For example, the winning driver would earn 185 points for their victory. If they led the most laps in the race, they would also receive 5 points for leading a lap, plus 5 points for leading the most laps for a total of 195 points.

There is a fifteen point increment between first and second place. Points are awarded in 5-point increments from second place through the next four finishing spots. From 7th to 11th positions, points are awarded in 4-point increments and from 12th through 43rd place, points are awarded in 3-point increments.

5. How does the chase format work?

During the format’s first three years, the top 10 drivers in points after the 26th race of the season (at Richmond International Raceway) qualified for the Chase; in addition, any other driver outside the top 10 but within 400 points of the standings’ leader was also eligible.

  • Starting last season, the 400-point cut-off was eliminated.
  • After Race 26, the top 12 drivers in the points qualify for the Chase.

At the start of the chase, all 12 drivers have their point totals re-set to 5,000; each then receives a 10-point bonus for each race victory they had during the first 26 races.

The Chase drivers are “seeded” to start the Chase based on the number of wins amassed during the regular season.

6. What is the Car of Tomorrow?

The Car of Tomorrow is a newly designed “universal” race car that teams will use for all races in 2008. The primary design considerations for the car are safety, performance and competition, and cost efficiency.

All COT's are required to fit the same set of templates which will ensure that all teams have relatively equal cars. Prior to the advent of the COT, NASCAR had a different set of templates for each manufacturer and had to frequently adjust the rules to ensure that makes and models were relatively equal. The COT simplifies this process tremendously.

Some notable changes to the cars include: a detachable wing, a more upright windshield, air intake below the front bumper of the car and a front bumper which is more box-like. These changes reduce the teams’ dependence on aerodynamics and improve the cars handling.

Finally, the COT also introduced changes that make the cars safer than the previous manufacturer models. Including: a driver’s seat that is four inches further to the right, a roll cage shifted three inches to the rear, and a body that is two inches taller and four inches wider. These changes ensure increased protection for the driver in the event of a wreck. Additionally, the car’s exhaust now runs through the body and exits on the right side of the car, which diverts heat away from the driver. Finally, in the new design, the fuel cell is stronger and has a smaller capacity (17.5 gallons down from 22 gallons.)
